News - Hamilton dominated in Hungary

Hamilton dominated in sunny Hungary. Massa had been injured seriously at the Saturday's qualifying and he was not at the grid. Alonso stayed at the leading position at the race start. Alonso was followed by Webber and KERS cars Hamilton and Kimi. Kimi hit slightly on Vettel's car and he dropped to the 7th positon behind Rosberg and Kovalainen. Nakajima and Button followed Vettel. On the second lap Button overtook Nakajima. Force India's Sutil retired into the pits. On the fifth lap Hamilton overtook Webber and pulled away Webber.

On the lap 12 Alonso made his early first pit stop. Alonso rejoined the 9th position but Renault driver lost his right front wheel. Alonso made another pit stop but retired because of associated damage. Hamilton was leading the race. Kimi was right behind Webber. On the 18th lap both Webber and Kimi made their first pit stops. Kimi was quicker than Webber in his pit stop and Red Bull team almost caused an accident by letting Webber leave the pit too early but Kimi avoided Webber's Red Bull car. On the 20th lap both Hamilton and Rosberg made their first pit stops. On the next lap both Kovalainen and Vettel made their first pit stops. On the 25th lap Button made his first pit stop. After the pit stops the race order was the following: Hamilton, Trulli, Kimi, Glock, Webber, Kovalainen, Rosberg, Vettel and Rubinho. Toyota drivers had not made any pit stops. Vettel had some problems with his car. The suspension of his car was damaged at the race start after Kimi's hit. On the 27th lap he made the pit stop for a new front nose. However, the problems did not disappeared and he retired into the pits. On the 28th lap Trulli made his first pit stop and rejoined the 8th position. On the 32th lap Glock made his first pit stop and rejoined the 7th position.

On the 44th lap Kovalainen made his second pit stop. On the 45th lap Kimi made his second pit stop. On the next lap Hamilton made his second pit stop and stayed at the leading position. On the 49th lap Rosberg made his second pit stop and rejoined ahead of Kovalainen. On the next lap Webber made his second pit stop. After the pit stops the race order was the following: Hamilton, Kimi, Glock, Webber, Rosberg, Kovalainen, Trulli, Button, Nakajima and Rubinho. Hamilton's leading gap was over 10 seconds. On the 55th lap Button made his second pit stop and rejoined the 10th position. On the next two laps Nakajima and Rubinho made their second pit stops and theirs mutual order remained the same. On the 58th lap Trulli made his second pit stop and rejoined the 8th position behind Button. On the 60th lap Glock made his second pit stop and rejoined the 6th position behind Kovalainen.

Hamilton' s victory gap was 11 seconds. Webber could not catch Kimi. Rosberg was the fourth followed by Kovalainen, Glock, Button and Trulli. Both Nakajima and Rubinho were right behind Trulli but there were no overtakes before the finish line. Heidfeld was the 11th followed by Piquet Jr., Kubica and Fisichella. Toro Rosso's Jaime Alguersuari was the 15th in his debut F1 race. Alguersuari is the youngest driver who has driven F1 race. He was 19 years and 125 days old in Hungary.
