Button won in the hot Bahrain. This was his third win out of the four races. Glock overtook his team-mate Trulli at the race start. Hamilton had a good start and he climbed into the third position. Hamilton was followed by Button, Vettel and Rubinho. Kimi had also a good start and he climbed into the 6th position. Kimi was followed by Rubinho, Alonso, Massa and Rosberg. On the first lap Rubinho overtook Kimi. On the second lap Button overtook Hamilton. Kubica and Nakajima made the pitstops for the new front noses. On the third lap Massa and Heidfeld made the pitstops. Massa had hit slightly to Kimi's car at the race start.

Glock and Trulli had light cars and they pulled slowly away Button who pulled away Hamilton and Vettel. Kimi could not follow Rubinho. Toyota cars made their first pitstops on the 11th lap (Glock) and on the 12th lap (Trulli). On the 14th lap Rubinho made his first pitstop. After the pitstops the race order was the following: Button, Trulli, Vettel, Hamilton, Rubinho, Glock, Piquet Jr., Kimi, Alonso and Rosberg. Piquet Jr. had not make any pitstops. On the 23th lap Piquet Jr. made his first pitstop and dropped into the 11th position.

Button's speed was fast and he pulled away Trulli. After 25 laps his leading margin was 25 seconds to Truli who drove with hard tyres. Vettel was stuck behind Trulli. On the 26th lap Rubinho made surprisingly the second pitstop and rejoined 8th position behind Alonso. On teh 33th lap Glock made his second pitstop and rejoined the 10th position behind Piquet Jr. On the 37th lap Button, Trulli, Hamilton and Alonso made their second pitstops. After the pitstops the race order was the following: Button, Vettel, Trulli, Rubinho, Hamilton, Kimi, Glock, Alonso, Rosberg and Piquet Jr. On the 47th lap Rubinho made his third pitstop and rejoined just front of Kimi.
