Racing against Hamilton while sitting on the sofa – Soon to become true?
Watching exciting races on TV or racing in your computer race simulators against other gamers both have been fascinating people for years! Let’s take these experiences one step further, by racing against real drivers in real cars on real tracks in real-time! Sounds intriguing?
For the past 3 years a German/Dutch company has been developing the iOpener Enabled feature, which lets you race against the professionals from your home computer or game console. A team of engineers have worked hard to merge the real world with the virtual world.
The race game experience will be re-defined when the first iOpener Enabled game is released! Everyone has dreamt of being able to race against the real professionals!
Just imagine its Sunday afternoon on the race track of Monza and the latest Formula 1 race is about to start. The smell of burnt rubber lays in the air, engines are roaring and you are all part of this! How can this be true? With the help of patented technology, a combination of telemetry and satellite systems, the real cars are sent to the gamer’s home screen! The delay is minimal and comparable to regular TV broadcasts, so the gamer truly sees the race taken place right in front of him!
Furthermore gamers can also take part in past races, stored for giving any gamer the opportunity of re-living historic and exciting race moment anytime he wants.
In June of this year it was revealed that award-winning Swedish game developer SimBin, famous for the GTR game series, is the first game producer to develop “RTR- The Real-time Racing Game” for the public. The beta testing phase is launching in October. For the first time ever it will be possible for gamers to race against real GT cars initially on the international track of Zolder, Belgium. The aim for the future is to have all major race series around the world be iOpener Enabled! This will not only be limited to motorsport race tracks. Other sports in off-road, water or air environment are to follow.
